Bacteria found in contact lens solution sold in Japan
There has been no evidence that affected lots were sold in Army and Air Force Exchange Service stores in Japan, AAFES spokesman Master Sgt. Donovan K. Potter said, but people might have bought the product in off-base stores.
Affected batch numbers are ZB02718 and ZB02722. Lot numbers are located on top of the solution’s box and on the side of the bottle.
Consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately and call (877) 884-7779 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Time or visit www.amo-inc.com for instructions.
Unsterile contact lens solution may have serious health consequences. Users who experience eye infection symptoms — redness, pain, tearing, increased light sensitivity, blurry vision, discharge or swelling — should remove their lenses and consult their eye-care provider immediately.
