Lawsuits pile up after eye infection link to contact lens cleaner

 
ROCHESTER, N.Y. The lawsuits are piling up against Bausch-and-Lomb, the Rochester-based company that made the contact lens solution linked to a rare fungal infection that has damaged of the vision of at least 300 consumers in the U-S and Asia.

Hundreds of people say they contracted the dangerous microbe while using a new multipurpose lens solution made by Bausch and Lomb. Several people allege the MoistureLoc solution caused them to lose an eye.

Lawyers now expect 500 to 700 people will seek damages from the company for the infections, with trials beginning as early as next summer. Continue reading this entry »
